Where, When and How did #SaveSoil Movement start ?
#SaveSoil movement started at the foothills of the sacred Velliangiri mountains in the hill just behind Isha yoga centre where volunteers sowed over 6 lakh seeds. The hill was made barren by an illegal timber mill running at the place before Isha was established. The seeds were sowed using a simple process where volunteers formed teams of 4-5. The first volunteer made a hole using a metal cone, the second filled it with some sand, the third placed a seed, the fourth closed the hole. This was done just before monsoon and since the soil was rich the plants were nourished enough. If you want’s to verify just go into the hill behind the Isha yoga centre and figure out average age of the trees there and it will be not more than the age of the Yoga centre.
